About This Product
The plotter is the machine that turns a print shop into a signage shop. It cuts self-adhesive vinyl for shopfront lettering, vehicle decals and wall graphics, and heat-transfer vinyl for garment numbers, names and logos - work you are currently subcontracting at someone else's margin.

Consumables
Vinyl and transfer tape. Blades are the only mechanical consumable and they cost very little.
Cost per job
Almost entirely the vinyl. Buy it by the roll and the maths changes completely.

An ordinary 240V socket.
Wear parts
Blades, and the cutting strip under them. Both cheap, both easy to replace.
Routine maintenance
Set blade depth correctly, keep the cutting strip clean, and never cut with a blunt blade - it tears vinyl and ruins the strip underneath.
Where the money actually goes
Weeding time. Intricate designs take longer to pick out than to cut, which is the single argument for DTF on complex artwork.

Questions buyers actually ask
What does a plotter let me sell that I cannot sell now?
Shopfront lettering, vehicle decals, wall graphics and garment numbering. If you are currently subcontracting any of those, you are paying someone else's margin on work you could cut in-house in minutes.
Does it print, or only cut?
Only cuts. It cuts shapes and letters out of coloured vinyl. For printed graphics you want the large format printer - and then this machine contour-cuts what it printed.
What is "weeding" and why does everyone complain about it?
Weeding is picking the unwanted vinyl away by hand after cutting, leaving only your design. It is fine on bold lettering and painful on fine detail - and it is the reason DTF exists for complex garment work. Training covers how to cut so weeding stays quick.
Is 2ft wide enough?
For decals, lettering and garment vinyl, yes - it is the practical working size and it is what most of this trade uses daily. Full-width banner and wrap work is a different machine.
What software does it use?
Artcut is supplied with it, and it also drives from CorelDRAW artwork, which most Kenyan design shops already have. Training covers getting your existing artwork to cut properly.
Do I need a heat press as well?
Only for garment work. Vinyl for signage is applied by hand with transfer tape; heat-transfer vinyl for clothing needs a press. We stock both sizes of flatbed and can quote the pair together.
