The Full Brief

About This Product

A combo press is a compromise; a dedicated flatbed is not. When garments are the business, this is the machine that gives you even pressure edge to edge, consistent temperature across the platen, and a press cycle you can repeat two hundred times a day without drift.

Two sizes, both readily available:

  • 38 x 38cm at KSh 45,000 - t-shirts, tote bags, front-chest work
  • 40 x 60cm at KSh 60,000 - full-back prints, hoodies, larger panels

The 40 x 60cm is the one to buy if you intend to take full-back designs and oversized prints; the 38 x 38cm handles the standard chest-print work that makes up most orders. If you are unsure, tell us what you plan to print and we will tell you which size you will regret not buying.

Both come with free operator training on transfer temperatures, dwell times and pressure - the three things that separate a print that lasts from one that peels after two washes.

What it earns

What you can make with it

These are jobs Colorshade runs on this equipment, not a list of things it could theoretically do. Ask us what any one of them pays before you commit.

Staff uniforms and corporate t-shirts

The steady repeat order. Companies re-print staff shirts every year, and they go back to whoever did them properly last time.

Campaign and event t-shirts

High-volume, deadline-driven work where an even platen means you are not re-pressing rejects at 2am.

Church, school and team kit

Names and numbers on the back - which is exactly why the 40 x 60cm size exists.

Tote bags and conference merchandise

Flat, fast, and the highest-margin item in most event orders.

Hoodies and sweatshirts

Thicker garments that need real pressure adjustment, not a combo press compromise.

Before you buy

What it costs to run

The price on this page is what you pay once. This is what the machine costs you afterwards — the part most suppliers leave you to find out on your own.

Consumables Sublimation paper, HTV or DTF film, and heat tape. All of them cheap and all of them available in Nairobi.
Power One ordinary 240V socket. No three-phase and no special wiring.
Blanks Your real cost per job is the garment. Buy shirts well and the margin looks after itself.
Wear parts The silicone pad, and the non-stick cover sheet. Both inexpensive, both consumables rather than repairs.
Routine maintenance Keep the platen clean, never press over old residue, and let it reach temperature fully before the first press of the day.
Throughput A press cycle is measured in seconds. On a dedicated flatbed you can hold that rate all day, which is the whole argument against a combo.

Straight answers

Questions buyers actually ask

Should I buy this or the 8-in-1 combo?

If you are starting out or your orders are mixed, buy the combo - it covers mugs and caps too. Buy this when garments alone are the business: even pressure edge to edge, no swapping attachments, and a cycle you can repeat two hundred times a day without drift. Most shops buy the combo first and add a flatbed when shirt volume justifies it.

38 x 38cm or 40 x 60cm?

38 x 38 handles standard chest prints, which is most orders. 40 x 60 is what you need for full-back designs, hoodies and oversized panels. Tell us what you intend to print and we will tell you which size you would regret not buying - it is usually the bigger one.

What temperature and time do I use?

It changes with the garment and the transfer type, and getting it wrong is how you scorch a shirt or watch a print peel after two washes. Free training covers exactly this, taught from presses we run ourselves for our own garment printing orders.

Can it press mugs or caps?

No, and it should not try. A flat platen cannot seat a transfer on a curved surface. Those want the mug press and the cap press, or the 8-in-1 combo if you want one machine for everything.

Is it really in stock?

Yes, both sizes, readily available. No import wait and no deposit-and-hope.

What else do I need to start?

A printer and a design source. Sublimation work wants the Epson L805; vinyl lettering wants the cutting plotter. Ask us on WhatsApp and we will quote the pairing as one package.
