About This Product

This is the machine behind every banner, backdrop, roll-up and vehicle wrap in our Large Format department. Owning one moves the highest-volume, most repeatable work in Kenyan print - banners and signage - inside your own shop.

Two widths:

1.8 metre at KSh 500,000 - full-width banners, backdrops and vehicle panels
1.2 metre at KSh 400,000 - roll-ups, posters and smaller signage

The 1.8m is the commercial choice: most banner and backdrop work is sized to it, and printing a 1.6m job in two panels on a narrower machine costs you a visible seam and the client's confidence. Buy the 1.2m when your work is genuinely roll-up and poster scale.

Both are import orders on a 30-50 day lead time, tested before shipping and delivered countrywide, with free operator training on media handling, profiles and head maintenance - the last of which is what determines whether the machine lasts three years or ten.

Consumables Eco-solvent ink and media. Media is the bigger number by far.

Cost per square metre Driven by the media you choose, not by the ink. Buy banner material by the roll.

Power A standard mains supply. No three-phase required.

Wear parts The printhead. It is the one expensive component and its life is decided almost entirely by maintenance.

Routine maintenance Daily nozzle checks, capping station kept clean, and never leave it idle with ink sitting in the head. This is what separates a machine that lasts three years from one that lasts ten.

Ventilation Eco-solvent ink has a solvent smell. Give it a ventilated room - not a sealed back office.

Questions buyers actually ask

1.8m or 1.2m - which should I buy?

1.8m if you intend to take banner and backdrop work seriously. Most of that work is sized to it, and printing a 1.6m job in two panels on a narrower machine leaves a visible seam and costs you the client's confidence. Buy 1.2m when your work is genuinely roll-up and poster scale.

Is this the same as a sublimation printer?

No, and it is worth being clear because the machines look similar. This is ECO-SOLVENT: the ink sits on PVC banner, vinyl and backdrop material. A sublimation printer prints onto transfer paper for polyester fabric. Different ink, different media, different business.

Can it print onto fabric?

Onto backdrop fabric made for solvent ink, yes. For polyester garment-style fabric you want a sublimation machine instead. Tell us the material you are actually printing and we will say which one you need.

What happens if I neglect the printhead?

You replace it, and it is the most expensive part of the machine. Dried ink in the nozzles is the single most common reason these printers die young. Free training covers the daily routine that prevents it, and it takes about five minutes a day.

30-50 days is a long lead time. Is that real?

Yes - it is an import order and we would rather tell you now than after your deposit. WhatsApp us for the current position before you commit; shipping moves and we will quote you the real figure.

What do I need alongside it?

A cutting plotter if you want to contour-cut printed stickers and decals, plus finishing - eyelets and hemming - which we can advise on. Everything Colorshade produces in banners and large format comes off a machine like this.
