Desk calendars sit in front of a client for a year; wall calendars reach a whole market. What each costs, who keeps it, and the 2027 holidays.
Calendar season starts in October whether anyone notices or not. By late November, suppliers, saccos and agrovets across the country are printing theirs. The question for your business is which kind: a desk calendar for a list of clients, or wall calendars by the thousand for a whole market. They are different tools, and the prices make that plain.
Desk calendars: one person, twelve months
A branded desktop calendar is KSh 270 each with a minimum of 50. It is designed page by page with your colours, photographs and contact details, then printed and assembled in-house so the stand folds properly and sits flat on a desk. That detail matters. A calendar that wobbles, or will not stand at all, is the one that ends up in a drawer.
It suits a business with a defined list of clients or partners: a supplier gifting its customer accounts, an insurance agency, a bank branch. Each calendar sits in one person's eyeline every working day for a year. That is about 250 mornings.

Wall calendars: a whole market, one wall at a time
Wall calendars are bulk products: A3 at 20/= and A2 at 35/= per piece, with a minimum of 1,000. At that price you give them out until every shop, kiosk and household in your area has one. Agrovets, hardware stores, wholesalers, churches, schools and politicians use them this way, because a calendar that hangs all year is seen by everyone who walks into that room.
| Desk calendar | Wall calendar | |
|---|---|---|
| Price each | KSh 270 | 20/= (A3) or 35/= (A2) |
| Minimum order | 50 | 1,000 |
| Smallest order | KSh 13,500 | KSh 20,000 (A3) or KSh 35,000 (A2) |
| Who receives it | A known list of clients | Everyone in your market |
| Where it lives | On one desk | On a shop or home wall |
Many businesses do both. Desk calendars go to the twenty or fifty accounts that matter most, and wall calendars to the customers who walk through the door. The two can share the same photographs and design, which saves design time and keeps the brand consistent across both.
The 2027 public holidays to print
A calendar with a holiday on the wrong day is wrong on every wall for a year. These are the fixed public holidays in the Public Holidays Act, with Mazingira Day on 10 October as amended in 2024, and the Sunday rule applied. Under section 4, a holiday that falls on a Sunday moves to the next day that is not already a holiday.
| Holiday | Date | Day in 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| New Year's Day | 1 January | Friday |
| Good Friday | 26 March | Friday |
| Easter Monday | 29 March | Monday |
| Labour Day | 1 May | Saturday |
| Madaraka Day | 1 June | Tuesday |
| Mazingira Day | 10 October | Sunday, observed Monday 11 October |
| Mashujaa Day | 20 October | Wednesday |
| Jamhuri Day | 12 December | Sunday, observed Monday 13 December |
| Christmas Day | 25 December | Saturday |
| Boxing Day | 26 December | Sunday, observed Monday 27 December |
Getting it on desks in time
A calendar is given in December and judged in January. Desk calendars need the longest lead of any year-end item, because someone has to choose twelve months of photographs and approve every page. The year-end ordering timeline counts back from your handover date. If you are also printing flyers or posters for the new year, the flyer guide covers sizes and quantities.
